Limbacher & Godfrey has completed work on a master plan for exterior spaces at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. While the 12-year-old venue is home to two state-of-the-art performance theaters, its central location offers unprecedented views of Lady Bird Lake and Austin’s skyline, making it a favorite destination for over 100 outdoor events annually. The master plan is to improve the outdoor event experience while also enriching the Center and its park setting. Enhancements include an enlarged lobby featuring new, voluptuous, Y-shaped concrete columns, and a shade lattice addition to the concrete ring, giving it a fresh, more celebratory presence on the cityscape. Outdoor fans for comfort complete the spatial, placemaking definition.
