As a follow-up to their Barton Springs Pool Master Plan of 2008, the firm is completing work on the historic Barton Springs Pool Bathhouse Rehabilitation Project, where structural and historic preservation issues are being balanced against needs to accommodate the enormous growth in user demand for the Pool and its services. The project goal is to provide a first-class experience for users that addresses substantial growth in user demand while also respecting the historic integrity of the place. The project includes a significant interpretation/ education component.
On April 4, 2024, the Austin City Council renamed the Bathhouse at Barton Springs Pool in honor of Joan Means Khabele for her contributions and activism which led to the integration of the pool.
The Bathhouse is a contributing structure of a National Register of Historic Places District.
